Currently working at Ockenden Manor Hotel & Spa in Cuckfield, Freddie Innes rose to fame as a contestant on MasterChef The Professionals 2019. We caught up with Freddie to see what life was like after the show, and which previous winner inspired him.

How has life been since appearing on the show? How did you feel about watching the experience back on TV?
I really enjoyed watching my self on Television. I found it rather funny reliving all the moments again.
Looking back now, what were your highs and lows?
Looking back at it now, I feel I could have done more. However, when your working as a chef you don't get much free time so what free time I did spend practising for the competition.
What made you apply for the show?
I applied for the show after watching the previous series in Spain and thought" I could do that". It looked like good fun.
Which previous contestants inspired you?
I would say the previous chef that inspired me to take part would be Laurence Henry. I thought his food was simple but delicious.
What advice would you give to next year's contestants?
The advice I would give next years contestants would be to try not to overthink everything. To just relax and practice your dishes.
How has MasterChef changed your career?
The show hasn't changed my life yet it's just made me a lot busier!I've had a lot on with work and events outside of work which I love because I love enjoy my job.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I would love to have my own restaurant eventually. My end goal would be to have an empire of restaurants and be a well-known chef throughout the country and Europe.
