MasterChef contestants Stephen Ford, Alex Talbot and Thomas Elson-Knight launch series of pop-ups this summer.
What is Salt Kitchen?
SALT Kitchen is the creation of 2019 contestants Stephen Ford, Alex Talbot, and Thomas Elson-Knight,
The three contestants from this year's MasterChef BBC TV series have joined forces to offer British food lovers an opportunity to taste and experience new dishes that have been inspired by their time on this season's competition.
The trio will come together to launch a series of pop-up restaurants and supper clubs across the UK this summer - developing modern cuisine and serving up new and exciting dishes for their fans.
Where and when does it kick off?
Kicking off in Bath on Friday, 31st May, SALT Kitchen will host the first two dining events throughout the summer that will embrace respect for local produce and seasonal flavours, which will run through its menus. The pop-up restaurants will be ticketed to approx. 100 diners who will eat decadent food while experiencing the dramatic setting of each event, including the breath-taking location of Prior Park School overlooking the World Heritage city of Bath and the rugged beauty of Caerphilly Castle.
What can I expect to eat?
Guests at the pop-ups can enjoy dishes such as risotto nero, filet of hake with a dill emulsion, pan-seared duck breast with a panko hen yolk, dressed in orange and a duck Vincotto sauce, and for dessert, a cocoa bean bombe filled with a decadent chocolate mousse and a raspberry core.
Commenting on the launch of SALT Kitchen, Alex says,
"SALT Kitchen really is the culmination of all of our cookery skills and the experience we learnt from our time on MasterChef. Moving from cooking for a few in our homes to mass catering or fine dining for over 80 people was thrilling, and it felt right to take that concept and host events for people to experience it first hand rather than via their screens. The food we want to cook is top restaurant quality and uses all the wonderful, rich local ingredients the south coast has to offer. We can't wait to get going and cook for you."
