Chef Jason McCrellis shows you how to make a simple Irish Soda Bread, that can be rustled up quickly and easily with limited ingredients. One to get the kids involved with!

Prep time 5-10 minutes
Cooking time: 45-50 minutes at 200c
Makes 1 loaf
Ingredients
340g wholemeal flour
340g bread flour
45g soft butter
2tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp cracked black pepper
200g treacle
200ml Guinness
225ml buttermilk Or 220ml milk + 1 tsp Lemon juice
Method
Combine all ingredients together and shape into a loaf.
Dust with flour and bake at 200C for 45-50 minutes
No need to rest or prove the dough beforehand
Note: This is ideal for home freezing, but will keep well in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
