Sally Abé x Calum Franklin
Two of London’s greatest chefs, the Queen of Game, Sally Abé, and King of Pies, Calum Franklin, are teaming up for one night only in an exclusive event celebrating the Glorious Twelfth at Michelin-starred pub The Harwood Arms.
12th August is affectionately known to game lovers as ‘The Glorious Twelfth’, marking the start of shooting season for red grouse, the ‘king’ of game birds that are native to Britain.
To celebrate this most glorious of culinary days, Sally and Calum will present The Harwood Arms diners with a bespoke five-course menu which reflects the cooking styles both chefs have been respectively lauded for.
The menu kicks off with a ‘Glenfiddich Our Original Twelve’ welcome cocktail specially designed for the evening. The rest of the menu is a thoughtful collaboration of dishes created by two of Britain’s most talented chefs. Scotch egg fans are in for a treat, as guests will get to sample the best of both of arguably London’s best scotch eggs, in a starter entitled ‘The Harwood Dining Room Scotch Eggs’.
With the entire menu focusing on some of Britain’s very finest produce, guests can expect exceptional wild game, and, naturally, pie – the highlight of which has to be the very ‘First Grouse with a Wild Mushroom & Truffle Pie and Pontack Sauce’.
Says Sally Abé, “I’m so excited to welcome Calum to The Harwood Arms kitchen. Our cooking complements each other incredibly well – we’re both focused on serving amazing British food. At The Harwood, we have a huge focus on wild food, especially game, so I wanted to celebrate the Glorious Twelfth and Calum was the obvious choice for a collaboration. Wild game and pie – what’s not to love?”
Sally and Calum will be serving the Glorious Twelfth Menu on Monday 12th August.
The five-course menu is priced at £75pp.
Tables are bookable from 6.30pm – 9.00pm, and reservations for the evening can be made via telephone only*.
