5 Food + Drink Products For Cosy Season

With the summer months well and truly in the rear-view mirror, October signals a moment to reset to welcome the change that comes with the autumn and winter months. Many gorgeous brands have launched exciting products in the spirit of newness - here are some of our favourites!

LOVINGLY ARTISAN

If it's true what they say and we do in fact eat with our eyes, then Lovingly Artisan is an absolute feast from the moment it lands on the doorstep. Each sourdough-based bread is beautifully wrapped in brown paper, ready to eat straight away or freeze for later - the former being the more tempting of the two options!

The Sourdough Discovery Box includes some of their hero products and is enough to make anyone fall in love with this stunning brand. Spiced Apple Sourdough, gently toasted with a thin shaving of crumbly, mature cheddar, was the perfect late-evening treat. Pain de Campagne, classic French, needed little more than a (slightly too thick!) wedge of unsalted butter. At the same time, the Kalamata Olive Sourdough was absolutely exquisite with torn buffalo mozzarella, a drizzle of peppery Extra Virgin Olive Oil and some basil leaves.

The Lovingly Artisan range has been carefully curated to offer something for every taste, every age, and every occasion. Among them are the Picnic Box; Barbecue Box; and the particularly clever, Breakfast in Bed Box.

Lovingly Artisan is a neighbourhood bakery located in the Lake District selling organic flours, bread knives, and of course, their organic crafted artisan loaves and pastries. Somehow the doorstep delivery embodies everything earthy and wonderful about a local artisan bakery - it is a true act of brilliance on the part of Lovingly Artisan.

Available to buy from www.lovinglyartisan.com for one off delivery or subscription.

HUNTER & GATHER

Egg-free mayonnaise might seem like an oxymoron, yet it has happened, AND it tastes completely delicious. Full marks to the clever team at Hunter & Gather, who have laboured to create something that might have seemed impossible but yet delivers on all fronts.

The newly launched 100% Olive Oil Egg Free Mayo is available in Classic, Garlic, Sriracha, and Basil Pesto. Each one is made in the UK using a carefully crafted blend of plant based ingredients including light olive oil, potato starch, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and pink Himalayan salt. The result is a rich, creamy and full of flavour mayonnaise free of the top 14 allergens. Whether slathered on toast with soft boiled eggs and a sprinkle of salt, or a dip for crunchy French fries, Hunter & Gather Egg Free Mayonnaise is something everyone can enjoy.

Available to buy from www.hunterandgatherfoods.com and Amazon with more stockists to follow. RRP £4.50 for a 250g recyclable glass jar.

CHANDON GARDEN SPRITZ

Who doesn’t love some bubbles, and this fantastic offering from CHANDON brings something a little unexpected too. CHANDON Garden Spritz is a ready to serve blend of sparkling wine and orange bitter liqueur, and with 50% less sugar than an ordinary spritz, there is something a little bit sophisticated about this.

Add a little cinnamon stick and some ice cubes and served alongside a platter of warm rosemary and parmesan cheese straws, this really makes a special aperitif.

As well as delivering on the taste credentials, there is a lovely nod to sustainability here too. CHANDON Garden Spritz uses only locally sourced, responsibly grown and sustainably farmed fresh Valencia oranges and grapes. The orange peels are hand extracted and free from residual pesticides and orange juice is distributed to local schools, whilst 5 tonnes of waste is reused as compost in its vineyards.

CHANDON Garden Spritz is available online now at Ocado and Clos19, with more stockists to follow. 75cl Bottle, RRP £20.

FARRER’S COFFEE BAGS

We are all familiar with the dilemma, desperate for a freshly brewed, hot coffee, but with time in short supply lots of us reach for the instant. And let’s face it, it’s just not the same. Thankfully the team at John Farrer’ & Co of Kendal have devised the perfect solution with their totally fuss free single use coffee bag. Just like the much loved tea bag, these coffee bags make freshly brewed coffee something that can be achieved in mere moments, with total ease. No grinding beans, no mess, no fuss, and most brilliantly, no waste.

We loved getting the day kicked off with the Farrer’s Decaf, which with its rich peanut and chocolate notes, medium body and low acidity made it an utterly delicious alternative to caffeinated coffee.

The ease factor made this a real winner, a hot kettle, a coffee bag, and three minutes later – pure bliss! Available from Farrer’s and priced at £6.50 per pack of 10 or £28.95 for a box of 100.

PADDY & SCOTTS

And while we are on the topic of caffeine, another brand is doing brew bags too. Paddy & Scott’s have created Brew Bags that once again take all the hassle out of a freshly made hot coffee, available in caffeinated or decaffeinated, perfect for all times of the day. The Brew Bags are fully compostable and take the same amount of time to break down as an apple core. So, now your morning coffee fix can help to fertilise your garden, not a bad way to get the day kicked off!
