A new rural dining destination is set to open this spring as The Jack O’Newbury launches in Berkshire this May.

Created by chef Dom Chapman and restaurateur Nigel Sutcliffe, The Jack brings together a restaurant, pub and boutique rooms in the village of Binfield, just a short drive from Windsor and Ascot.

Following two years of thoughtful restoration, the former village inn has been transformed into an 80-cover restaurant with terrace, 11 individually designed bedrooms and a kitchen garden set within two acres of countryside.

Dom Chapman, formerly of The Fat Duck and The Royal Oak Paley Street, brings a Michelin-starred pedigree and a love of bold, seasonal British cooking. His menus will focus on hearty, flavour-led dishes using local produce and ingredients grown onsite.

Expect comforting plates such as wild venison faggots with mash, roast Cornish seabass, and classic British desserts including sherry trifle and Cambridge burnt cream. A traditional Sunday roast will also take centre stage.

The drinks offering champions English wines, local ales and seasonal cocktails, while The Snug — a cosy bar with a wood-burning stove — creates a relaxed setting for casual dining and drinks.

Upstairs, 11 bedrooms designed by Alfred House reflect British craftsmanship, each named after textiles in homage to John Winchcombe, the historic figure known as Jack O’Newbury.

With a terrace overlooking a wildflower meadow, a kitchen garden supplying the restaurant, and a private events pavilion, The Jack is positioned as a true countryside escape with destination dining appeal.

Warm, welcoming and rooted in its surroundings, this is one of Berkshire’s most exciting openings for 2026.
