London's First Hackney Gelato Terrace

Hackney Gelato opens its first-ever London gelato terrace on Baker Street, taking over Kitchen at Holmes, the Mediterranean neighbourhood restaurant at Holmes Hotel London. Set within the boutique hotel, a design-led Marylebone base with a distinctly local spirit, guests can expect DIY affogatos, gelato filled treats and indulgent cocktails that blur the line between dessert and drink.

 


Running from 1st May through to September, this is your go-to spot for cooling down. Step into a Mediterranean-inspired haven, dressed in florals and with soft furnishings reflecting the colours of the gelato, from pistachio and chocolate to lemon and mango, alongside a branded cart serving scoops for those on the move.

 

At the heart of the summer-long collaboration is a playful menu of frozen desserts and cocktails. Expect a gelato filled brioche sandwich, alongside a show-stopping sundae created by Hackney Gelato’s co-founder Enrico Pavoncelli and Kitchen at Holmes Executive Chef, Stefano Motto. For a hands-on experience, the DIY affogato selection lets guests build their own, pairing flavours like Sicilian Pistachio and Cookies & Cream with espresso, then dialling it up with a splash of Amaretto, Frangelico or Baileys, finished with a chocolate drizzle and crushed pistachios.

 


Out front, the cart keeps thing casual with cones and tubs to take away in flavours ranging from Clotted Cream & Strawberry to Alphonso Mango Sorbetto. From the bar, gelato-infused cocktails put a dessert twist on classic tipples. Highlights include a Classic Sgroppino made with Hackney Gelato’s Sicilian Lemon and prosecco; and a Margarita of Clotted Cream & Strawberry gelato with tequila, triple sec & lime juice.

 


The Hackney Gelato terrace sits as part of the wider summer programme at Kitchen at Holmes, where Stefano’s Mediterranean menu runs from lighter, seasonal plates like lobster linguine with Datterini tomatoes and basil through to weekend brunch, complete with soulful sounds from a resident DJ every Saturday, and with the addition of a roast on Sundays. 

 

The Kitchen at Holmes X Hackey Gelato terrace is open from 1st May – 30th September, open daily (weather permitting).
