MasterChef Winner Takes to the Stoves at The Oyster Shed

Riverside pub and first floor restaurant The Oyster Shed has welcomed MasterChef Winner 2013, Natalie Coleman, as its new Head Chef. Reflecting the City-based pub’s stunning waterside location, the focus is firmly on sustainable seafood and fish and seasonal British produce.

Coleman brings an elevated menu to the Oyster Shed gleaned from her experience working within the teams behind fine dining restaurants including Le Gavroche (Michel Roux Jr), Viajante (Nuno Mendes), St Johns (Fergus Henderson), The Kitchin (Tom Kitchen), L’Enclume (Simon Rogan), The Berkeley Hotel (Marcus Wareing), Midsummer House (Daniel Clifford) and The Hand & Flowers (Tom Kerridge).

Natalie’s creative flair is evident across The Oyster Shed’s new menus, from small plates, mains and sharers to plant-based options. Expect a changing roster of seasonal specials and signature dishes of seafood platters including Colchester Oysters served raw with gin and cucumber granita, pickled cucumber and dill. Star mains come in the form of Pan-roasted halibut fillet with langoustine, bisque sauce, parsley root and salsify, and Whole roasted Cornish sole with cockles, sorrel velouté, samphire and burnt leeks. Plant-based choices include a Miso roasted aubergine with smoked aubergine puree and jewelled bulgur wheat.

Coleman comments: "I am excited to have joined the team at The Oyster Shed. We are committed to sourcing sustainably and to delivering dishes that showcase the wonderful produce from our suppliers. As an avid fisher myself, I’m very passionate about bringing the best fish and seafood from our shores to the forefront and developing the menus to reflect the seasonal catch.”

Located a stone’s throw from London Bridge, The Oyster Shed is one of the city’s finest riverside pubs, with wall-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views across The Thames and a variety of bookable spaces including an outdoor garden terrace, private dining space ‘The Cabin’ and first-floor ‘Captain’s Table’. Upstairs also sits the ‘Rockefeller Lounge’, a stunning mezzanine area with private bar and space for up to 140 guests, perfect for private parties and events, with bespoke packages available. Home to a quality selection of cask ales and beers, an extensive wine list and boasting stunning views of The Tower of London and the Shard, The Oyster Shed is the ultimate destination for workers and foodies alike.
