Two Michelin-starred chef Phil Howard has announced the special reissue of his landmark cookbooks from his critically acclaimed Mayfair restaurant The Square — bringing together Savoury and Sweet into one exquisite Collector’s Edition.

Originally published in 2012 and 2013, The Square: The Cookbook Volume 1 – Savoury and Volume 2 – Sweet quickly became modern culinary classics.
Each captured the elegant, contemporary French cuisine that defined The Square and established Howard as one of the UK’s most respected chefs.
More than a decade later, these acclaimed books return as The Square Cookbook: Savoury and Sweet — a single, beautifully bound collector’s volume for a new generation of cooks and collectors.
Earlier this year, Phil unearthed just 33 copies of the original Savoury edition, offering them via Instagram for £50 each. The response was staggering: “33 books... 800 emails. I simply cannot answer them all,” he posted. The surge of interest convinced him — and his original publisher Jon Croft of Absolute Press (now part of Bloomsbury Publishing) — to reprint both volumes in a new limited edition.
Each Collector’s Edition is a work of art:
250 hand-numbered copies
Calligraphy by Mansi Shah-Katari in Hong Kong
Bound in cloth with head and tail bands
Dual ribbon markers
Presented in a bespoke slipcase and sleeve
The reissue marks a significant moment in modern British gastronomy, celebrating Howard’s legacy and The Square’s contribution to fine dining in the UK.
