On November 8th, two of the UK’s most exciting chefs, Gareth Ward of Michelin starred Ynyshir in Wales and the much-celebrated Theo Clench of Akoko in Fitzrovia, are coming together to create a totally unique, once in a lifetime 15 course menu for one night only at Akoko.
Owned by Aji Akokomi, the food at Akoko is an ode to beautifully crafted West African flavours and cooking techniques focussing on fire, spice and umami, with Chef Theo using the very best British and West African ingredients to create stunning and constantly surprising dishes full of texture, flavour and warmth. With a Michelin Star and 5 AA Rosettes, Gareth Ward of Ynyshir has become famed and accoladed for his wholly unique and irresistible culinary creations flavoured with fire, prepared with traditional Asian ingredients and fuelled by natural fat. Both chefs share an ethos for innovation, flavour and artful intricacy – making the most out of beautiful ingredients using ancient and modern cooking techniques to create show-stopping dishes.
This four hands dinner is a unique opportunity to experience the food of these two sensational chefs, all under one roof, in a truly beautiful setting in central London.
“It’s incredibly exciting to be working alongside a chef I respect as much as Gareth. He is the sort of chef people travel miles for, and to have him in our kitchen at Akoko is going to be absolutely brilliant. We cook very different food, but our ethos is the same. I think we are going to create something quite magical” says Theo Clench, Executive Chef at Akoko.
“It was a great honour to be invited to collaborate with Theo at Akoko. I love what they are doing there, their emphasis on ingredients and technique sings true to what we do and I’m so looking forward to being able to cook together. It’s going to be a great night" says Gareth Ward, Chef Owner of Ynyshir.
With just 30 seats available for the evening, Gareth and Theo will be putting together a 15 course menu cooking their own dishes that work in harmony with each other’s. So that there is no compromise to their dishes, diners should be aware they will not be catering for any dietary requirements as both chefs will be creating plates that have been honed to exactly their culinary specifications.
Diners can book their seats between 6-8pm. Tickets cost £175pp (not including drinks) and can be booked via this link - https://www.rsvp-popup.com/restaurants/akoko-london
