This May, Chef Dom Taylor is bringing something truly personal — and unapologetically flavourful — to West London with the opening of Marvee’s Food Shop, a vibrant reimagining of the classic Caribbean takeaway. Named after his mother Marveline, affectionately called Marvee, the new venture pays homage to the women, meals and memories that shaped him, from London kitchens to Jamaican cookshops.

Following the breakout success of The Good Front Room, his polished residency at The Langham Hotel, Dom is swapping white tablecloths for warmth, soul and scotch bonnet. Marvee’s Food Shop will be nestled inside UNDR, a community-driven music and events space just off Portobello Road, seating 60 across its intimate indoor space and sunny terrace.
At Marvee’s, Dom delves into nostalgia and adds bold, contemporary twists. Two Caribbean staples — Bammy and Festival — are cheekily reimagined as waffles, ready to be loaded with toppings like Jerk Chicken, Crispy Spiced Banana Blossom, or melt-in-your-mouth Boneless Curry Goat.
The menu is designed for sharing — and storytelling. There’s a spicy, joyful mix of familiar and fresh:
Lime, Chilli & Maple Plantain
Pumpkin Rice with a kick
Roast Pineapple & Heirloom Tomato Chow
And when it comes to patties, Dom's flipping the script with unexpected dipping sauces: think traditional Oxtail Gravy and a decadent Dark Rum & Raisin glaze, also available in a bottled take-home option.
Desserts are pure Caribbean comfort, with flair.
Roasted Plantain & Molasses Soft Serve
Old Skool Cake & Custard (with a serious glow-up)
To drink? House-made vegan pineapple punch, peanut punch, and carrot juice, alongside curated cocktails and local brews from UNDR’s bar.
Interiors are a love letter to the Caribbean homes and takeaways of the 80s and 90s — retro wallpaper, warm wood, sunny palettes and soul. It’s familiar, but elevated. Art by award-winning portraitist Yvadney Davis adds another layer of storytelling — her work, inspired by the Windrush Generation, will be displayed throughout.
“Marvee’s Food Shop is something I’ve been dreaming about for years,” says Dom. “It’s a love letter to my mum and to the food that raised me. But this isn’t The Good Front Room. That’s its own story. This is about joy. Everyday food. Everyday people. Challenging the narrative of what Caribbean food should look like — and just letting it shine.”
Born in South East London to Jamaican and Saint Lucian parents, Dom’s culinary journey has always been rooted in culture and community. From childhood trips to Brixton Market to training in South Carolina and leading kitchens across London, his food has evolved — but stayed true to its roots.
After winning Five Star Kitchen: Britain’s Next Great Chef in 2023 (streaming on Channel 4 and Netflix), Dom earned the chance to launch The Good Front Room, a ten-month hit that put Caribbean fine dining in the spotlight. With Marvee’s Food Shop, he’s going back to basics and on his terms.
He’s also behind a line of Caribbean-inspired condiments (like plantain jam and Scotch bonnet hot sauce) and Marvee’s Rum, a Sorrel and Ginger-blended spirit that’s as bold as the man himself.
