Cheese lovers, rejoice – The Welsh Cheese Company is opening its brand-new cheese and wine shop in Cardiff on Tuesday 30th September, bringing an irresistible mix of artisan cheeses, fine wines, and relaxed neighbourhood vibes.

Founded by Tom Pinder, international cheese judge and long-time champion of Welsh producers, The Welsh Cheese Co has been spreading the word about Welsh cheesemaking since 2017 with its online store. In 2022, it opened its first physical shop in Taffs Well – the UK’s only 100% Welsh cheesemonger.
Now, its second shop takes pride of place opposite Victoria Park on Cowbridge Road, Cardiff.
Inside, you’ll find a contemporary cheesemonger offering more than 70 Welsh cheeses, a curated selection of accompaniments, and wines by the bottle to take home. But this space is more than a shop – with seating for 20 guests, it’s also a cosy cheese and wine bar where visitors can savour curated boards and pairings.
The Menu Highlights
Welsh Cheese Board (£25): five cheeses, sourdough from Pettigrew Bakery, Teifi butter, chutney, crackers, grapes, figs, apricots & pickled onions.
Welsh Cheese & Charcuterie Board (£29): three cheeses plus Trealy Farm charcuterie.
Welsh Cheese & Wine Pairing Flight (£20): three cheeses paired with three wines.
There are also inventive paired plates, such as:
Thelma Caerphilly with poached cherries
Hafod Cheddar with Dylan’s piccalilli
Brefu Bach ewe’s milk cheese with honeycomb
Founder Tom Pinder said: “This new space gives us the chance not only to showcase the incredible range of cheeses being made here in Wales, but also to create a relaxed spot where people can discover them in the best possible way – alongside great wine, bread and charcuterie.”
