So it's Dry January again, when many of us grit our teeth and give up alcohol for the month. But what if you could give up the booze but keep the buzz?
The functional drinks category - i.e. drinks which offer health benefits such as gut health, better focus or increased relaxation - is rapidly growing in the US and is set to grow in the UK over the next few years. We round up options that are alcohol-free but still contain a little something to lighten the mood.
Goodrays Deluxe CBD Wellness Box

This ‘Dry Jan survival kit’ has all you need for a chilled, booze-free January. Enjoy all of the best-selling Goodrays CBD range in one deluxe box, a perfect wellness purchase for yourself, or a like-minded friend or family member.
CBD is a naturally occurring, non-intoxicating compound found in the cannabis plant. At the right doses CBD can help to reduce anxiety, promote calm, aid muscle recovery, reduce nausea, improve mood, reduce blood sugar levels, aid sleep and and to improve mental focus by supporting the body’s natural cannabinoid system, which is responsible for maintaining homeostasis (balance) in the body. Goodrays products contain 0% THC, so it won’t make you ‘high’.

TRIP

Relaxation is the number one reason given for drinking alcohol and TRIP offers CBD or magnesium-infused functional soft drinks which help you to unwind, alcohol-free. We like these straight from the can, but pop one of these in a glass with some ice and a garnish and you have full mocktail vibes.
One of the official brands of Dry January 2025 with charity Alcohol Change, TRIP is available from major supermarkets as well as Holland & Barrett and Boots. Unlike many low-alcohol alternatives, TRIP drinks have 0g of added sugar and come in under 29 calories per stylishly-designed can. Bestselling CBD infused flavours include Elderflower Mint, Peach Ginger, and Raspberry Orange Blossom.
RRP: Variety pack from £24.00 for 12 cans; currently on sale for £18.00
Impossibrew craft beer

We love the taste of Impossibrew which is brewed with Social Blend, a proprietary alcohol-alternative using new patent-pending technology designed to replicate all of the things you like about drinking, while eliminating the ones you don't. "We've created something entirely new in the alcohol-free category," explains Founder Mark Wong. "Our enhanced beers don't just taste great - they're specifically crafted to help you unwind naturally. It's the sensation of a pint or two, without the alcohol."
Impossibrew ® Enhanced Lager (0.5% ABV)
Crafted from a premium Japanese recipe, this gluten-free lager delivers full body and flavour while using traditional brewing ingredients. Dry-hopped and patiently conditioned, resulting in a refreshingly crisp and dry profile with clean, lingering citrus notes. Just 75 calories per 440ml can.
Impossibrew ® Hazy Pale (0.5% ABV)
A full-bodied pale ale bringing tropical and bitter flavour notes together in a complex profile of peach, pineapple and mango. Its unique low-temperature brewing creates an exceptionally smooth, hazy texture. Impossibrew Hazy Pale is also low calorie (up to 17kcal per 100ml), low carb (5.28g) and vegan.
RRP: £49.99 for the Bestseller Bundle, including 18 x 440ml cans (9 of each beer) plus two bonus cans and a bespoke glass.
Zooz

Crafted with health-conscious people in mind, Zooz was created by personal trainer, Daniel Soos with a view to giving the body a boost and supporting mental clarity. Made with a blend of Lion’s Mane and Cordyceps mushrooms this all-natural, low-calorie drink is the perfect alcohol-free treat to embrace a healthy start to the New Year without sacrificing flavour or sophistication.
Don't worry, it doesn’t taste of mushrooms! Think Italian-style citrus bitters: zesty, elegant and a gorgeous deep amber colour. You can drink Zooz as it is, with a garnish of orange (and maybe a sprig of rosemary), or use it in a mocktail.
RRP: £24.24 for a pack of 12 cans
Hip Pop

We are absolute converts to functional drinks brand Hip Pop, which offers a range of vegan-friendly, low-sugar and non-artificial kombuchas and sodas that "do good as well as taste good".
Delicious and refreshing, Hip Pop's CBD Kombucha is ideal for those looking for more no/low drinks options.
