Hot New Restaurant Openings - June 2024

Need some dining inspo? Catch up on the latest restaurant openings with our monthly Hot New Restaurant Openings round-up. Here are five new restaurants to get your teeth stuck into this June.

Pizza Pilgrims

Pizza Pilgrims Euston has landed. The bespoke interior has been inspired by train travel through the golden era of the Amalfi Coast. Pizza is a Neapolitan style made on 72-hour double-fermented dough. Opt for toppings like their Margherita Extra-Extra, which is everything you want from a classic Margarita, but with added Piennolo tomatoes, creamy burrata & fresh basil pesto. Or for total decadence try the Carbonara pizza, which is topped with guanciale, Pecorino, an egg yolk and finished with strands of al dente pasta. A large outdoor area seats 32 for warmer days, so head there when you get a glimpse of warmth this summer (here's hoping).

Permit Room Cambridge

From the team behind Dishoom, a sister brand Permit has been born. It's modelled on the permit room drinking dens of Bombay in the 1960s and 70s. The first site has already opened in Brighton, and Permit Room Cambridge is set to open this June. Try dishes like crispy spinach chaat with yoghurt, chutneys, spices, seeds, and fresh pomegranate and Aunty’s Anda egg curry (a traditional curry of boiled eggs hidden in a rich dark tomato sauce). Plus bacon naan rolls and endless cups of chai will be served up for the morning after a big night. Cocktails with an Indian twist will also feature.

Opens 20 June

Sushi Revolution Shoreditch

Tom Blackshaw and Aidan Bryan have opened a second site of their contemporary Japanese Izakaya brand Sushi Revolution, on Curtain Road, following the success of the original site which has been serving up sushi in Brixton since May 2021. The Shoreditch restaurant takes up a ground floor space at the new Stage Plaza development. Chef Tom has been making sushi at the highest level for 15 years and has worked in some of the best and top-rated sushi restaurants in London and Europe including Aqua Kyoto, Chotto-Matte and most recently Sticks n Sushi. Throughout the menu, displaying a break from tradition, you’ll notice modern twists on classic izakaya dishes. Tuna Tartare is served with goat’s cheese and truffle onion soy, and fresh Nikkei Yellowtail Tiradito comes with cherry tomatoes, red onion & yuzu truffle soy, and soft-shell crab roll is filled with with kimchee hummus.

Metropolis

Epic street food awaits under the railway arches at Albert Embankment in Vauxhall. Food and entertainment venue, Metropolis London, has officially opened its doors. Take your pick of cuisine from Fresco Trattoria Pizzeria to Kusina serving up soul food with a Filipino twist. Steak fans should head to O’Gosht and it’s all about Uzbekistan dumplings at OshPaz. At Chipsy, expect loaded fries and a smoked BBQ feast. For early risers, the terrace, complete with coffee and pastries cart is open from 7am daily, providing the perfect spot for a pre-work breakfast or to work remotely. The entertainment arch features bands to bingo, comedy to cabaret, LGBTQ+ friendly events to cooking master classes, and there’s an impressive 15-metre cocktail bar on site too.

The Store Oxford

A fancy new hotel has opened at the site of the former Boswell's department store in Oxford. We’ve heard the rooftop bar has top-notch views of the dreaming spires, and back down on the ground floor, Treadwell Restaurant has opened. The kitchen is headed up by Chef Andy Robinson and the menu sees international twists to English classics such as a Ruby Murray chicken pie, bangers and mash with Cajun gravy, and rosemary & thyme brined pork tomahawk.
