Mondo Sando, the cult sandwich legends offering executive lunchtime solutions since 2021, are hitting up Peckham. Following a series of sell-out subs, knockout supper clubs and pub takeovers, 2022 will see Mondo Sando move into The White Horse. Get set for unparalleled sandwiches, an ever-changing menu, weekend specials and of course, pints.
The Mondo Sando story began in lockdown. What began as making a few subs for mates, quickly spiralled into selling hundreds of sandwiches a week. Now, Mondo Sando is evolving. Taking on a second residency at another proper South East London boozer, the boys will have full control of the kitchen. The White Horse is the proud owner of a beautiful charcoal grill, so expect a lot of live fire daredevilry: chicken tikka masala sandwiches, yakitori skewers & chargrilled merguez burgers all feature.
They’re also debuting some veggie sandwiches, including a deep-fried aubergine parm (deep fried aubergine, fresh mozzarella, béchamel, pecorino, basil, Norma sauce, rocket) and a fresh vegan Thai larb (vegan soy larb with Thai basil, mint, coriander, shallot & chilli, lime dressing, toasted rice powder, black bean kewpie mayo, pickled beans, cucumber, lettuce). On Sundays they’ll also be bringing roasts to the table featuring signature twists on the classics, like a North African stuffed & rolled lamb shoulder, crispy fennel seed roasties and miso hispi cabbage.
The White Horse will be Mondo Sando’s second pub spot, having moved into the Grove House Tavern, Camberwell earlier this year. Both sites will run alongside each other. The White Horse will offer the same menu all day, whereas the Grove House Tavern will continue with separate lunch and dinner menus.
