Review: Neyba

Whether you need a quick weekday lunch to bring back to the office, a late night snack after a Saturday at the pub or some grocery essentials for cooking at home, Neyba is a unique restaurant-grocer that has everything you could need in once place.

Nestled into London’s quaint Notting Hill neighbourhood on Westbourne Grove, the founder of the popular surf and turf joint Burger & Lobster has launched this new kitchen concept that ticks all the boxes. The ability to get high quality curries, pizzas and Japanese cuisine all under one roof means you’ll never again have to fight over who gets to pick the spot on Deliveroo - which Neyba has partnered with exclusively. Order take away and enjoy Neyba’s variety of food from home or pop into the store for a dining experience in a relaxed environment.

We attended Neyba’s grand opening and enjoyed tasting the variety of culinary delights available from celebrity and Michelin starred chefs Tony Singh MBE, Miguel Barclay, Yoko Nakada and Endo Kazotushi. They also served MOTHs cocktails which Neyba also sells in the grocery section. We tried the margarita and the negroni and while often sceptical of canned cocktails and wary of them being over-sweet, MOTH really changed our minds.

From the menu, Miguel’s pizza was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed the pizza-making performance his team put on, from flipping the dough and sliding it into the fiery pizza oven to generously shaving fresh truffle over the whole pizza. Another highlight was Yoko Nakada’s beef short rib with a unique shemeji mushroom sauce that offered an elevated experience to a Katsu curry sauce, paired with white rice and a slice of dill pickle.

The restaurant-grocer concept allows you to eat now and pick up a few items for your cupboard or fridge for later. Neyba’s bespoke selection of grocery products can be found in Michelin starred chefs’ kitchens, with butchery and seafood products which are sourced locally and priced affordably. So whether you just need a bottle of milk for tomorrow’s tea or are an experienced cook looking for something to impress at a dinner party, Neyba has you sorted.

Neyba is now open for lunch, dinner and drinks from 11.30 am to 11 pm seven days a week. www.neyba.co.uk
