This September, ALTA, a new restaurant inspired by the bold, rustic flavours of Northern Spain, will open its doors in Kingly Court, bringing wood-fired magic, sharing plates, and a love for regional Basque cooking to the heart of London.

Led by Chef Rob Roy Cameron – whose impressive CV includes time at El Bulli, 41 Degrees, Hoja Santa, and most recently as Executive Chef at Gazelle – ALTA is set to be a flavour-forward homage to the Alta Navarra region, blending Spanish culinary tradition with a proudly British larder.

What to Expect at ALTA Soho

ALTA will serve a menu of informal, fire-kissed dishes designed to share – from wood-fired vegetables and housemade Txistorra, to aged beef sirloin and UK-caught seafood. Expect escabeche-style preparations (a Spanish method of marinating with vinegar and oil) featuring seasonal British ingredients, including Iberico pork bred in Shropshire and vegetables grown especially for the restaurant.

Menu Highlights Include:

  • Razor clams in white escabeche

  • Wood-fired courgette with pumpkin seed romesco

  • Cornish mussels & grilled bread

  • Homemade Txistorra & onion cider jus

  • Chocolate mousse with smoked olive oil meringue

  • Basque cheesecake with escabeche strawberries

A Thoughtful Drinks Programme

The drinks menu is being curated by Dino Koletsas, formerly of Harrods. Expect low-intervention European wines, a rotating wall of wines on tap, and a seriously interesting cider selection inspired by the Basque country’s love of the drink. Add Spanish vermouth on tap, a few carefully chosen sherries, and a cocktail menu focused on savoury, artisan European spirits – and you’ve got yourself a list as exciting as the food.

The Space

Set across two floors (plus an outdoor terrace), ALTA will be Kingly Court’s largest restaurant to date, seating over 100 diners. The interiors will reflect the earthy warmth of the cuisine – exposed brick, wood, muted tones, and a show-stopping open-fire grill front and centre. Upstairs, there’s a private dining room for 12, and outside, a year-round heated terrace for 14 guests.
