Simon Rogan announces his debut afternoon tea at Henrock

Multi Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan has announced the launch of his first-ever afternoon tea following the successful opening of Henrock, at Linthwaite House, in Bowness-on-Windermere.

The Festive Afternoon Tea consists of a creative and intricate selection of cakes, sandwiches, and pastries, which is being served in the informal lounge at Linthwaite House throughout December.

As with all of Simon’s menus, the dishes will change seasonally to showcase the very best ingredients available at the time.

The afternoon tea emulates Henrock’s signature style, serving dishes that have been inspired by Simon’s travels around the world, particularly Hong Kong, where Simon launched Aulis and Roganic, which was awarded a Michelin star, in 2019.

Seasonal sandwiches are followed by an array of cakes and miniature desserts with highlights including:

The dessert selection includes: ‘Cherry and sherry trifle with compote, jaconde sponge soaked in sherry, vanilla cremeux and Chantilly cream,’ alongside ‘Chestnut and blackcurrant choux buns,’ and ‘Chocolate, pecan and caramel cake with confit lemon, roasted almond and Gianduja glaze.’

The pastry selection includes: ‘Milk chocolate and almond yule logs’ and ‘A pecan caramel and vanilla Christmas tree with a caramel filling, pecan praline cream, pecan praline crunch and caramel mousse.’

The menu is completed with a choice of traditional Christmas cake or freshly baked scones, served warm with clotted cream, raspberry jam, or sharp lemon curd.

Guests will be able to choose from a selection of teas or infusions from across the world, or for something a little stronger, cocktails, champagne or English sparkling wines will also be on offer.

Linthwaite House Hotel and the Henrock Lounge is renowned for its unrivalled views overlooking Windermere. The restaurant is named after a rocky outcrop known locally at Hen Rock, which is visible from the terrace.

Afternoon tea must be ordered 24 hours in advance and is served in the lounge Monday to Saturday from 1pm to 6pm and on Sunday’s from 3pm to 6pm, throughout December.

Traditional afternoon tea £28 per person.
